What We Believe?

God is our Heavenly Father.  He made us, He loves us and He wants the very best for our lives.

Jesus Christ is God’s Son.  Through His death on the cross and His resurrection, He made it possible for us to receive forgiveness and new life.

The Holy Spirit is sent by God to all those who believe.  He is sent to make the truths of God a living reality in our lives.

The Bible is God’s Word.  It is a relevant today as it was the day it was written and it is fundamental to our lives, both as individuals and as a church.

Worship of God is a priority in our lives and forms a major part of our services.  It is varied and open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer is essential to the Christian Life both for the individual and for the church.  Prayer involves speaking to God and taking time to listen to what He is saying to us.

The Church is the corporate body of those who believe that Jesus Christ died for them and accept His gift of forgiveness and new life.  Commitment to a local church is strongly encouraged.

Baptism by full immersion is the sign by which those who believe in Jesus profess their repentance and faith in Him.

Communion is the act by which we share bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus’ death, until He comes again.  Communion may be taken by anyone who knows and loves Jesus.

The following statements have been taken from the Baptist Union of Great Britain, to which we are affiliated.

  1. That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws.

  2. That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who 'died for our sins according to the Scriptures; was buried, and rose again the third day'.

  3. That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world.
